# OPTIONAL: run the workers on a libSQL server (Turso) INSTEAD of the D1 database above. Both
# are SQLite; the schema, the migrations and the workers are the same, and the D1 database
# stays bound (and RECFLARE_D1 still required) so switching back is unsetting this line and
# redeploying. Leave both unset to use D1, which is the default.
#
# The URL is the one Turso shows for the database (`turso db show <name> --url`), as-is:
#
# RECFLARE_LIBSQL_DB_URL=libsql://<database>-<org>.turso.io
#
# The token (`turso db tokens create <name>`) is the one entry in this file that IS a secret.
# It is never passed as a var: `just deploy` puts it as an encrypted worker secret, and
# `just migrate` / `runx admin --remote` read it from here to reach the database directly.
#
# RECFLARE_LIBSQL_DB_AUTH_TOKEN=eyJ...
#
# `just dev` and the tests ignore both and stay on the local D1. Setting the URL changes what
# `just migrate` and every `--remote` operator command talk to — the libSQL database, not D1 —
# so it is one switch for the whole deployment: the workers, their migrations and the tooling
# all move together, which is the only sane state for fifteen workers sharing one database.
# To carry existing data over, see "Using Turso instead of D1" in DEPLOYING.md.
# --- Server tuning (all optional; the shown value is the built-in default) ---

- Syncpack ensures dependency version consistency
- Turborepo enables parallel task execution and caching
- Workers configured via `wrangler.jsonc` with environment variables
- The shared `recflare` database is D1 by default, or a libSQL server (Turso) when
`LIBSQL_DB_URL` is set: `withDatabase` (`packages/domain/src/libsql-db.ts`) wraps each
worker's default export and swaps `env.DB` for an adapter with the D1 API, so query code
only ever sees `D1Database`. Migrations and `runx` tooling follow the same switch.
- Each worker has `context.ts` for typed environment bindings
- Integration tests in `src/test/integration/`
- Workers use `nodejs_compat` compatibility flag

### Using Turso instead of D1
The workers can run on a [Turso](https://turso.tech) (libSQL) database instead of D1,
with nothing else changing: same schema, same migrations, same workers. D1 stays the
default and stays bound, so this is a switch, not a migration of the code. The
switch is two lines in `.env`:
```bash
turso db create recflare
turso db show recflare --url # -> RECFLARE_LIBSQL_DB_URL=libsql://...
turso db tokens create recflare # -> RECFLARE_LIBSQL_DB_AUTH_TOKEN=...
```
With both set, `just migrate` applies the workers' migrations to that database (with
the same per-worker history tables wrangler keeps on D1), `just deploy` hands every
worker the URL as a var and the token as an encrypted worker secret, and the
`--remote` operator commands (`just admin`, `just catalog`) act on it. Local dev and
the tests keep using the local D1 regardless.
To carry an existing D1 database across, export it and load the dump before the
first `just migrate` — the dump includes the migration history, so nothing is
re-applied:
```bash
wrangler d1 export recflare --remote --output recflare.sql # from any D1-backed app dir
turso db shell recflare < recflare.sql
```
To go back to D1, unset (or comment out) the two lines and run `just deploy`. The
token secret is left on the workers and ignored without a URL; remove it with
`wrangler secret delete LIBSQL_DB_AUTH_TOKEN` per worker if you want it gone.
> ⚠️ The URL is one switch for the whole deployment. Deploy every worker after
> changing it: a worker left on the old database would be reading and writing
> different data from the rest.

/**
* The shared `recflare` database on a libSQL server (Turso) instead of Cloudflare D1.
*
* D1 is the default and stays fully supported: every worker still binds it as `DB`, local
* dev and vitest run on miniflare's D1, and an operator who never sets `LIBSQL_DB_URL`
* never loads this. Set the URL (and its auth token) and the SAME workers read and write
* a libSQL database instead, through an adapter that presents the D1 API — `prepare`,
* `bind`, `first`, `all`, `run`, `batch` — over `@libsql/client`. Nothing that queries the
* database knows which backend it is on; the 400-odd `db: D1Database` signatures and the
* hand-written SQL behind them are untouched, which is the point of doing it this way.
*
* Both are SQLite, so the schema, the migrations and the SQL carry across as written
* (generated columns, JSON1, `RETURNING`, numbered `?1` placeholders). Two differences
* worth knowing:
* - D1 caps a statement at 100 bound parameters and the code chunks for that
* (`d1-binds.ts`); libSQL's limit is far higher, so the chunking is merely harmless.
* - A D1 `batch` and a libSQL `batch` are both one transaction, all-or-nothing, so the
* call sites that rely on that (`rooms-db.ts`) behave the same.
*
* The import is `@libsql/client/web`, which the Cloudflare tutorial insists on: the
* default entry is the Node build and does not run in workerd. In the web build a
* `libsql://` URL is Hrana over HTTP — stateless, one fetch per statement, no socket held
* between requests — which is the right transport for a Worker, and why the client is
* created per request rather than cached on the isolate.
*
* Migrations go through `runx libsql migrate` (see packages/tools), which `just migrate`
* switches to on its own when the URL is configured; operator tooling (`runx admin`,
* `runx catalog`) follows the same switch in packages/tools/src/d1.ts.

* loaded back into D1 hands wrangler a table it recognises;
* - each file runs in one transaction with its history row, so a failed migration leaves
